Before rooting the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, one must make sure that the note can be rooted. Here are some models of Galaxy Note 2 which can be rooted.

- T-Mobile (SGH-T889)
- Canadian models (starting with SGH-I317 or SGH-T889)

Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is very easy and has to be done on Windows. Firstly the user needs to switch off the phone and bring it to download mode. For that the Volume down, home and power key has to be pressed together. There will be a message on the phone asking whether to continue or restart the phone. Volume up key will continue the process and take the user to the ODIN download mode of the phone. There will be Downloading shown on the screen and the user should not switch off the phone that time. ODIN file has to be opened by double clicking the odin3 v1.85.exe. The PDA of Files has to be clicked and find the cwm6-root-note2.tar. Next select Start and green PASS box shows success. On finishing, the device goes to ClockworkMod(CWM) Recovery to install the SuperUser app. Then the phone needs to be rebooted to Root Samsung Galaxy Note 2. There will be an icon of Super SU on the home screen on the phone which shows that the phone is rooted.
